Originally a military creation, designed to protect pilots wrists from exposure to the elements during WWI, the bund strap has become a cult - favourite amongst horological connoisseurs, as championed by such aesthetes as Paul Newman and Miles Davis
Particularly useful in hostile war circumstances, the strap was equipped with the famous bund, a protective leather backing that came between the wrist and the watch. So no matter how intensely hot or cold conditions could get during service on the field or in the air, the wearer would suffer no consequence. A temperature-sensitive metal watch case could never scald or freeze to a wrist…thanks to that extra piece of backing.

Japanese Traditional Fabric Products
These scraps come from an antique Japanese boro textile dating back to Meiji era, late 1800s. Katazome is a traditional Japanese resist dye technique. These textiles were made by hand from scratch. The weaving, stenciling, dying and often the spinning of the cotton was all done by hand by the artisan. Natural botanical dyes were used, indigo being the most common. Traditional Katazome designs often feature natural motifs, including flowers and birds.
